The broken leg is not conducive to working quickly.

Just about done, a wee tickle here and there. Decided against putting anything in the squares.

Still chipping away...

Boredom and sheer frustration compelled me to struggle up to the studio this afternoon.

Did a bit more to this. It's not too far from being resolved. I need to put a line drawing in the large rectangle and suggest something in the smaller squares. The background will be pretty dark and hopefully not fight with the figure too much.

I can't wait until my operations are over and I can get stuck into painting full-time again. I have many genius ideas. That's right. Genius.

red bit

put a bit of red into this as a key for the other colours.

I'm in agony. Thanks for not feeling it too.

Slowly, slowly

I did a wee bit more to this today. It's not far off being finished but it will have to wait until I return from my stay in hospital hotel. I'm not too sure what I'm doing with the squares yet. Was toying with the idea of a line diagram type thing similar to the wing thing a while ago. Plenty of time to think about it I suppose.

May post tomorrow as it might be the only chance I get for a while.

Not looking forward to the 21st. Thanks for asking.

Good work fella

My amazing student Mr Walton brought his latest masterpiece to El Studio Diablo for assessment this morning. He has just started this but I think it looks pretty awesome already. He has come such a long way since we first met. This painting is one half of a diptych of sorts. He has used himself as a subject for lack of willing models. If anyone is able and willing I'm sure he would be interested in using YOU as the focus of his next work of genius. Get famous people!

The first image is one of the first paintings he did under my direction. The second image is the painting he brought to the studio today. Quite a leap, would you not agree? Click image for a closer look!

Blackbird has spoken

Just managed to squeeze this little guy into Monday's post. Started this this evening and I'm not sure where I am going with it yet. Might paint some clouds in pale rectangle.

This is really old ... 7 years?

I did some work at El Studio Diablo today...I'm not showing you though.

I plan to start an animal painting this evening.

Gis a fag.

I have been thinking about doing this or something similar for a while now, so I knocked these up in Photoshop. I can't work out whether it is borderline cheesy or not. Also, I am not sure how to approach it. Charcoal and oil on paper or oil on canvas?

EDIT: I have since been informed that this looks a bit 80's...mmm. Now I'm really unsure.

EDIT: these are photos of past paintings.

Art Review

Although I am sure it has been around for eons , I have just discovered another free artist portfolio/community site thingy. It's pretty intuitive to set up and allows fast uploading of seemingly unlimited images. I have uploaded a significant amount of images; I think there are about 70 paintings and drawings.

I think it's supposed to be an arty Facebook kind of deal.

Blue beast

Ok, so I didn't manage to finish the Dalmation this evening. It's nearly there though; a few adjustments to the background and that's that. I might investigate the Dalmation thing further if this painting is well received.

It will be a crow, raven or blackbird next I think.

I'm Shite and my leg hurts. Thanks for not caring you heartless beasts.

Nadia Lazizi

Lisle Towers welcomed yet another figurative artist today. The beautiful and talented Nadia Lazizi stopped by the Towers bearing a selection of new work for my delectation.

Nadia also brought a couple of bottles of ink and suggested I use my time in hospital constructively. Drugs permitting, I think she is on to something!

Check her work in my Talent links.

I will finish the Dalmation painting this evening and look into another bird painting. Morning has broken?
