Just to paint is great fun. The colours are lovely to look at and delicious to squeeze out. Matching them, however crudely, with what you see is fascinating and absolutely absorbing. (Winston Churchill)

Still more to work out

Once the position of the Patella's are sorted, I am ready to paint.
The little blob on the knee cap ( patella) on the right needs to be in full shadow as it looks a little odd when it joins the shadow of the black fabric. She is a very slender model and, as such, needs a little more anatomical scrutiny. I will probably gloss over this for the sake of brevity. The focus is definitaly on the sterno- cleido mastoid and clavicle.

Ha Ha Ha I'm winging it

Getting somewhere.

Here's what has been happening to the first commission. Still a bit to go on this stage but it's heading in the right direction. Not sure what's happening in the circle yet. Will have a chat with the client.

twenty five thousand hits

This is bonkers

Prize winner at the Sheffield convention. Get in there son.

have known this guy for about 17 years. He is without a doubt the best technical portrait artist on or off skin. He's like a human photocopier. He might not even be human. Check him here LINK

The amazing student AL

Here is an evolving underpainting by my amazing student Mr Walton.  These first stages are incredibly important and his diligence is evident. I am really looking forward to seeing this further on. ACE
My dear friend and artist/gallerist has a new website. Here's my hint for christmas pressies. Absolutely love this

Joyce Cairns was our tutor at art school and is a crazy talented artist. Check this out. LINK

Not much to post

I really don't have much to show you. There are four commissions on the go and I can only show you a wee bit of what I am up to. Hopefully I can talk my clients into allowing you to appreciate their vision. We shall see.

Dogface Leda ran away from me today; right into the middle of the road and started to have a leisurely wee, oblivious to her imminent demise under the wheels of passing vehicles. I think she took objection to someone's hat.
I was shaking for about an hour. Little bugger.  Not cool.

All is well...I hope

Airplane Jive in the groove

The Guardian gave away a dvd of the 1980 comedy classic AIRPLANE this weekend. I had completely forgotten the Pythonesque genius of this spoof B-movie. One scene that held particular mirth for Mrs Diablo and I was that of the two Jive speaking characters.
Check out this Jive dictionary and use it with aplomb...

commission central

Here is a photo of one of the commissions that I have just started. The client is also a trained artist specialising in photography. please check out Shetland based Chloe Garrick's amazing work here LINK and visit her blog here LINK.
I will post more of this as it progresses.

This is one of my favourite photographs by Miss Garrick

Right then chaps and chapesses, I'm off to walk the dog. Leda's not very well today (she's having some rather alternative excretions). I'm all about the sharing folks!
Bye for now
