Colour studies?????????????????????????????????????????

When I first started this painting I was fairly sure that the three figures would be dressed in white. Having completed the tonal underpainting, I am now unsure. The scale and tonality of the piece at this stage suggests that a bold colour composition would work better.

I have knocked up a few colour studies using blue and red. I feel that this combination was more in line with the classical vibe of the painting. I am REALLLLY confused now. I'm pretty sure the blue/red/blue doesn't work but I am struggling to choose an alternative.

COMMENTS ARE MOST WELCOME. I genuinely need a hand here. Consensus rules.

Hmmmmmmm had a look and let the good lady wife look too. Without discussing previously we both picked Blue/Red/Blue. The white seems too bland and flat next to the colours. The good lady wife said why argue with Da Vinci's favourite colours.

I quite like the blue flanked by two whites

Bosun - blue-red-blue is pleasing to my eye.

However, from a conceptual point of view, it depends how the painting is to be interpreted. I can't see it up close, but with blue-white-blue, you have the classic look of the bride in white, flanked by her bridesmaids. The blindfold signifies her walking blindly into a marriage, pushed on by the strong will of those around her instead of her own feelings. The background represents her indecision too, like a no-man's-land between her two choices.

So I like that, but I've probably had too much Red Bull and anyway I know hee-haw about art.

Looks fabulous though pal.

It's double red or double blue. Blue would be more venturesome but maybe that doesn't mean it would work better.

Red white red, for sure. It's powerful, they're powerful, flanking the pure, it looks like trouble brewing, no escape - but in a good way.
